Manual setup

    Add the server

    Open Cursor Settings → MCP → Add new MCP server, or edit ~/.cursor/mcp.json directly:

    Authenticate

    Cursor detects that the server requires OAuth and opens a browser consent screen. Sign in with your Ranks Hawk account and approve — Cursor stores the resulting credentials for you.

    Use it

    In Chat or Composer, ask — e.g. "Any content gaps between me and my tracked competitors?"

What it can do

find_content_gap

Keywords a competitor ranks for that you don't — topics worth writing about.

find_backlink_opportunity

Dead competitor pages worth reclaiming, or sites linking to them but not to you.

find_ai_mention

Questions where AI assistants cite a competitor instead of you.

list_competitors

Your tracked competitor domains.

get_account_summary

Your domain, plan, and last analysis run time.

Common questions

The one-click install didn’t open Cursor

Make sure Cursor is installed and has been opened at least once, then click the button again — or use the manual mcp.json setup below.

Where do I find installed MCP servers in Cursor?

Cursor Settings → MCP. You’ll see "rankshawk" listed with its connection status and an option to re-authenticate.

Does this work in Composer and Chat?

Yes — once connected, the tools are available to Cursor’s agent in both Chat and Composer.
